about dragos

Dragoş was born in Transylvania, Romania and obtained his BSc and MSc at his home-town University (Babeş-Bolyai University, Cluj), working in the laboratory of Prof. Cristian and Anca Silvestru. His MSc stay included a research stay at the University of Rennes, in the lab of Dr. Yann Sarazin and Prof. Jean-François Carpentier, working on organocalcium chemistry.

For his PhD, he moved to Norwich, England, where he completed his PhD with Prof. Manfred Bochmann on gold(III) chemistry. After a short postdoctoral stay in England, he moved to Germany, at the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung (Mülheim/Ruhr) with Prof. Alois Fürstner, working on ruthenium catalysis. His stay was funded by Fellowship from the Alexander-von-Humboldt Foundation. He remained in Germany for his Habilitation (completed in 2023), which was conducted at the University of Heidelberg, at the chair of Prof. Lutz Gade. His research in Heidelberg was funded by the Fonds der Chemischen Industrie (FCI) and the DFG.

Since 2024, he has been appointed as a Junior Professor at the University of Rennes (France). His group investigates the reactivity of open-shell transition metals for the development of highly active catalysts based on sustainable metals.
