June 2023

Ever wondered if it makes a difference performing a reaction under N2 or Ar? Julianna demonstrated that it does, and in the context of cobalt-based hydroboration, we understand why. If you’re curious, have a look at: ACS Catal., 2023, 13, 8770.

April 2023

Pyrimidine-based redox active ligands can significantly improve catalyst stability in iron-catalysed (2+2)-cycloaddition reactions. This even allows us to access cyclobutene-based six and 7-membered N-heterocycles. A 3-year project, brought to completion by Leif, Thilo, Felix and their research interns. If you want to read the story, have a look at: ACS Catal., 2023, 13, 6416.

March 2023

Nicolas Regenauer defends his PhD thesis and passes his doctoral exam with the distinction “Summa cum laude”. We are immensely proud of you!

December 2022

Felix Becker joins our group as a Master Student working on iron catalysis. Good luck!

September 2022

Nicolas gives an oral presentation on his PhD project at the Koorindationschemietreffen in Jena. Julianna and Leif present posters. Good science and good beer makes a great group outing!

September 2022

Our newest review on redox-switchable catalysis is finally out and can be accessed at: Encyclopedia of Inorganic and Bioinorganic Chemistry, R. A. Scott (Ed.).

August 2022

Can the N–N bonding in N2 be influenced by anything else than chemical stimuli (e.g. reducing agents or Lewis acids)? Nicolas found out that pressure gradients have also significant effects in the case of iron-bound N2 species. Have a look at: Chem. Eur. J., 2022, 28, e202202172.

May 2022

How does Milstein-type metal-ligand cooperativity look in open-shell iron species? Nicolas’ study of this concept for PNN-based iron-dinitrogen complexes is published and can be accessed at: Inorg. Chem., 2022, 61, 7426.
